A client wanted this family heirloom restored for his Father.  It had been in their family since the 1930's and had not been working for the past 60 years or so. The radio was in rough shape - the cabinet worn and damaged, the electronics untested for decades.  It was a comfortable home to many spiders.  

I started by taking everything apart and giving the cabinet and components a good cleaning. 

All capacitors were replaced and resistors tested and replaced if necessary.  All tubes were tested and replaced if weak or dead.  All controls were cleaned and lubricated.  The dial lamp was replaced.  The speaker was replaced with an original duplicate.  The grille cloth was replaced with a period correct replacement.  A new fabric wrapped power cord was installed.

The cabinet was NOT stripped down and refinished but rather hand polished and touched up.  The finish is completely original.  It does show signs of 80 plus years of beautiful patina!
