This 1937 tube radio was introduced in 1937 by the RCA Victor Company.  It is a considered a small upright tabletop broadcast (AM) receiver measuring only  14" high, 12 1/2" wide and 6 3/4" deep.

The radio is clean, attractive and functional.   It powers up and looks great when the dial indicator lights up.  All old AM receivers are prone to picking up "noise" from electronic equipment, LED or fluorescent lighting, etc.  They also require a long wire antenna. This unit comes with one attached to the back.  You may need to add to it and run it along the walls of a room at floor level.

The plastic dial cover and speaker grill cloth have been replaced.  The wood cabinet has been lightly sanded and refinished  My "restoration philosophy" is to preserve as much of the original finish and strip to bare wood only when necessary.  Therefore you will still see some of the patina and wear and tear that has developed on this radio over the course of it's 80 plus year old history

The controls have been cleaned and lubricated.  The electronics have been thoroughly gone over.  All paper and electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents and every resistor has been checked and replaced if found to be defective.  Any brittle wiring has been replaced.  The pots have been cleaned with CDC contact cleaner.  Each tube has been tested and replaced if weak or defective.  A new reproduction band belt was installed to ensure no slippage from the tuning control.

Once I finish a radio to my satisfaction, I move it from my workshop to my office and will "use it" for weeks or months before listing it for sale.  There are two reasons for doing this: one is to allow the radio to run for hours to determine if there are any intermittent problems and the other is to allow me to enjoy it for a while!

Nothing has been done to this radio that is not described here.  THIS IS NOT A FULLY RESTORED RADIO but rather an original vintage item that has been inspected and repaired as necessary to make it functional.  As with all of my radios, I have played this radio for hours several days a week before I put it up for sale.  I do my best to describe every item in detail.  Please look over the photos and contact me with any questions.
