Here is a great example of GE's iconic 1950's Mid Century Modern ALarm clock.
The radio is clean, attractive and semi functional. It powers up and looks great The clock works and keeps pretty accurate time, however, it picks up only a few AM stations and has alot of typical static. I believe this is due to my location. Your area may produce better results. Therefore, I consider this to be more of a decorative clock than a functional AM radio. All old AM receivers are prone to picking up "noise" from electronic equipment, LED or fluorescent lighting, etc. They also require a long wire antenna. This unit comes with a coiled antenna already installed. You may need to add to it and run it along the walls of a room at floor level.
The controls have been cleaned and lubricated. The electronics have been thoroughly gone over. All paper and electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents and every resistor has been checked and replaced if found to be defective. Any brittle wiring has been replaced. The pots have been cleaned with CDC contact cleaner. Each tube has been tested and replaced if weak or defective. The case has been completely cleaned and polished.
Nothing has been done to this radio that is not described here. THIS IS NOT A FULLY RESTORED RADIO but rather an original vintage item that has been inspected and repaired as necessary to make it functional. As with all of my radios, I have played this radio for hours several days a week before I put it up for sale. I do my best to describe every item in detail. Please look over the photos and contact me with any questions. As with any old tube radio, this should not be left unattended or played for long periods of time.
